Pick our brains about...
In order to help us know more, remember more and do more, at Priory Academy we use a low-stakes quizzing technique called 'Pick our brains about...'. These quizzes take place in class, frequently. Teachers have created half-termly posters which identify the current units of study as well as selected previous units which the work builds upon. Teachers decide which aspects of learning are the most important for children to focus on in each sequence of lessons, usually because they are the building blocks to their next piece of learning.
Every class is given the opportunity to revisit and recall learning that they have done in the past and to show off their new learning too. The broad nature of the posters allows children to summarise retained knowledge and explain in further depth to go beyond the simple recitation of facts. For more detailed information on what is taught in each subject, see the Priory Curriculum tab.
We encourage all children to use these posters, by regularly discussing what they have learned today, last week, last month, last year and last Key Stage! We ask that parents help them at home, using a mobile device to scan the QR codes which link to websites, videos, posters or documents that link with the unit of study.
Pupils wishing to practise their knowledge even further can join the KS1 or KS2 knowledge club!
