At Worksop Priory Academy, we intend to deliver a French
curriculum which is accessible to KS2 and that will maximise the development of every child’s ability and academic achievement.
As set out in the National Curriculum, we intend to teach
a French curriculum with appropriate subject knowledge, that will foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world.
By delivering high-quality French lessons, pupils will be given the opportunity to express their ideas and thoughts in another language, and understand and respond to speakers, both in speech and in writing.
Children are provided with opportunities to communicate for practical purposes. Language teaching should provide the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to study and work in other countries.
Through our programme of study, we help children to explore the cultural aspects of France, including traditions and customs and behaviours. We also study the geography of France, including recognising its location and significant landmarks.
We celebrate success and achievement in French by providing children with opportunities to share their knowledge, for example, by sharing with their peers in class, through school displays and enrichment days. We enhance the children’s experience of French further, by offering KS2 enrichment days.
Dream, by: exploring our individual creativity.
Build, by: developing our procedural knowledge and vocabulary.
Grow, by: sharing and celebrating our successes in French with others.
