Religious Education
We intend to deliver an RE curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the development of every child’s ability and academic achievement. By delivering high-quality RE lessons, we intend for the children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principle religions represented in the United Kingdom. We also intend to equip our children to live in a society of diverse religions and to develop positive attitudes and respect towards other people who hold views and beliefs different from their own.
Children will develop a strong understanding of the ‘key concepts’ of the Bible through the study of ‘Understanding Christianity’ and a framework formulated around the Nottinghamshire Agreed Syllabus for R.E. This will allow for progression and continuity of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Alongside this children will also explore wider concepts of Human Rights, Worth and Charity within their RE lessons and through collective worship.
We will enhance the children’s experience of RE further by offering enrichment days, faith experience days and inviting children to lead collective worship.
Further information about the teaching of RE can be found by viewing our RE policy.
